Aurora on drum?

Aurora on drums?

Playing a cover of Prince' "Purple Rain?

Yes - it's true!

As a tribute to Prince upon the day of his death.

AURORA:

- Yes, it's strange about the times we live in. All the greats are disappearing, one by one. Bowie was big for me, and Prince was almost as big. The news came just before our concert in Washington, which was the last of the US tour. So we ended up playing Purple Rain. The whole hall sang along, and I played the drums. It was a nice moment, even if it was sad.

Christine live: Aurora Aksnes

Performed live 29/04/14

Published 30/04/14 by Ali Soufi-Grimsrud

"She is only 17 years old, but already a distinctive songwriter. Aurora Aksnes' play with piano, electronics and use of voice enchants us, and shows that this is an artist who is about to catapult out of the starting pit", wrote the Urørtredaksjonen when the teenager from Bergen was named Ukas Urørt last month.

Words of praise from the music industry

The 17-year-old also impressed the critics when she played at by:Larm a couple of months ago, an experience she referred to as a "career highlight" when Urørt interviewed the pop talent.

The other day she visited Christine at Marienlyst, where she performed the single "Awakening" and the cover of Miley Cyrus' much talked about "Wrecking Ball".

- She gets a lot of trouble, like all famous people, but I like her. She does exactly what she wants. Or, I guess so. And that's good, says the pop hope about the cover choice of "Wrecking Ball".

- There are many people who are impressed by you. You played by:Larm, but I've been on missions before that. I heard you on the internet this summer and remember it like it was yesterday. After all, you had the six of the dice thrown at you after the by:Larm concerts?

- Yes, it was great fun, answers Aksnes, who says that she wanted to do even better at concert number two, despite the fact that she got full credit after the first performance during the music meeting that was held in the capital.

Working with new material

- When you play concerts, people travel from afar to observe and follow along. Are there many people who are keen on you, musically, that is? asks Christine.

- It is a desirable situation. It is very exciting that there is interest. But now I want to have everything done, and start working on the important matters, says Aurora Aksnes, who reveals that she worked on songs in Berlin and London, and of course in the city of blood.

- There will be more music from me this year, I won't sit on everything and brood over it, she promises.

Weirdo's Fairytale

23rd of November 2015

Aa I wrote yeaterday: Aurora did an interview with the online magazine Indiemono, which is dedicated to support independent artists. Along with that, there was compiled a Spotify song list named "Weirdo's Fairytale". It was a playlist dedicated to her fans. Years have passed, and the playlist was removed. Now it has been restored, and it's available on Spotify. You will find the link in my bio, and below.

Lost in the music...

I'm happy to see she sings "Artemis" live - and I must say it sounds lovely with violins too 🤩😍

Aurora was singing at the 10 years anniversary of Stavanger Concert House, the 15th of September 2022. With full orchestra! 🤩. A very good recording of this whole concert (mostly) is found on YouTube. Great sound quality.

Aurora and Dr.Simi

Can someone explain this to me?

I have noticed there is a trend to throw a toy/doll named "Dr.Simi" at artist, as a way of showing appriciation. And I have found that this trend somehow started with Aurora last year. An article said:

"The trend of throwing Dr. Simi at concerts started on November 21st, 2021, according to a Reddit post, when the Norwegian singer Aurora went to Mexico for the Corona Capital Festival and a fan threw her a Dr. Simi stuffed toy, she took it and then hugged the toy."

I have tried to figure out who or what this toy represents, but all I found was this:

"The mascot Dr. Simi (example below) was born as an advertisement for a pharmaceutical company called Farmacia Similaresand represents the caricatured version of an elderly health professional, whose appearance is inspired by the appearance of the famous Mexican film actor Pedro Armendariz Jr."

Can anyone please explain this a little further. I would love it if you sent me some links to articles who explains this too...
